What’s it really like working in Audit?

Working in Audit is a great way to learn new hard and soft skills and to challenge yourself in a very dynamic and rapidly evolving environment. You get to work with a variety of clients across different industries, gaining great experience in business specific topics. Audit is not only about numbers and financial statements, but also a great way to learn how business processes are created and managed from both a financial and operational point of view. You quickly become an excellent team contributor, feeling that your work is making an impact that matters. Regarding the continuous need of enriching our technical know-how, you also get the opportunity to get qualifications, like the Swiss CPA that brings credibility to your skills and experience in any finance job.

Was there anything that surprised you when you started to work in Audit?

Since I started working at Deloitte our tools have changed a lot. The way of working is continuously developing towards a deeper integration with new technologies like artificial intelligence. Also, the career path is very motivating and dynamic. The more you grow and learn in your role, the more opportunities you will have. For example, this includes actively participating in meetings with client leadership and management teams, where you get exposed to interesting and strategic discussions.

Guido, what advice would you give to someone considering a career in Audit?

Every day I get more and more convinced that curiosity is a key factor when starting out on any career path, including Audit. Even if I have been working in Audit for several years, I never stop asking questions to myself and to my colleagues. I am always curious to see how people see things in different ways and how enriching these conversations can be. I am always happy when new talents approach me with questions, there are no bad questions! Each question has its own importance that we should dedicate some time to answer.
