With the rising temperatures, the holiday season also begins. Many colleagues are away and suddenly additional tasks arise.
Here are a few tips on how you can master this summer challenge without stress.
Good communication is the key
Whether you're in the office with your team every day or often working independently in a home office, effective communication is crucial. Make sure you know what is expected of you and what your tasks are. Also inform others about your tasks and responsibilities. This will help you avoid overlaps and misunderstandings.
Divide your tasks sensibly
When you take on additional tasks, it is important to set priorities. You don't have to do everything at once. Make a (daily) list and sort the tasks according to importance: priority 1, priority 2, priority 3. Do the urgent tasks first (priority 1) and take care of the others later.
Do not overextend yourself
It is tempting to take on more responsibility during the holiday season. But remind yourself once in a while that you don't have to do everything on your own. If you feel overwhelmed, talk to your boss or colleagues. It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Even if you have more work to do, don't neglect your work-life balance. Take time for yourself and your leisure activities. This will help you to clear your head and approach your tasks with fresh energy.
In summary, holiday replacement does not have to be stressful. With good communication, a sensible division of labour and a healthy work-life balance, you can master the challenge. And who knows, you might even learn something new or discover new skills.
